Provoke NOT your Child

Today I will be coming to from the PARENTS IN MINISTRY LINK, these are some of the things that are talked about in the SEMINARS, but more in detail, if you want a SEMINAR to take place in your church or community feel free to call.

In a form of a question, WHY ARE THERE SO MANY YOUNG PEOPLE ANGRY? The scripture today is coming from EPHESIANS 6:4 (NLT) Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather bring them up with the discipline, and instruction that comes from the LORD. Some parents, play a big part with the ANGER in their children and are unaware of that. In some cases, parents say and do things to make a child upset on PURPOSE!

Some parents are so FIRM, that the child doesn't see a SOFT side. The affection is a concern. The child never hears the parent say "I LOVE YOU"or "GOOD JOB." There is never PRAISE for the child when he or she does well. But when the child does wrong you are all over him or her. The only time the child hears from the parent is during discipline. A child needs to know that he or she is doing something RIGHT. The GREATEST thing that could make a child HAPPY is to have the approval of their parent, or to know that the parent is happy and pleased with him about something.

No affection shown. No time spent together. No praise. Only discipline and firmness. I've worked with young people with drugs and substance abuse problems for a few years, and many times we don’t know why young people do what they do, but if you could listen to some of the things these children were saying. It is simple; some just want quality time with their parent. Some just NEEDED QUALITY TIME WITH THEIR PARENT.

Parents vs. Guns

I always say if you are a parent, you are in Ministry. These SEMINARS are not for perfect parents with perfect children, so if you are a perfect parent with perfect children the things I say may not apply to you. But always remember, it takes a VILLAGE to raise a child. You may have a family member or friends who can perhaps use what is being said. I have 2 questions to ask, and we talk about these things in the SEMINARS.
1. WHY are there so many young people on the street after dark?
Homework is finish then you go outside, but before the street lights go out you had to be inside; supper was served @ a certain time; you had to be in bed @ a certain time, after you do what you had to do before going to bed, and if you didn’t you would be woken out of a deep sleep in a way you did not want!
2. Why do so many young people have GUNS?
Children are given play guns when they are 2 or 3 and they think its cute as they go around saying "I am going to shoot you!" They become 13,15, and 16 years old and they're fascinated with GUNS. They get their hands on one and their parents don’t have one of their own. Back in the day Parents use to do room searches, now days doors are LOCK, and the child is telling the parents you can’t go in my room because of privacy! Feel free to Comment.
